The Mama-Pikin Foundation (MPF) was honored to welcome researcher Skye Wheeler from Human Rights Watch (HRW) to Sierra Leone! MPF has launched a partnership with HRW to explore how heat, flooding, and other climate impacts affect maternal health in the country.

This collaborative study involves focus group discussions with pregnant and postpartum women, as well as one-on-one interviews with healthcare providers and key stakeholders. As part of this effort, MPF and HRW visited hospitals and clinics in Freetown and Makeni, engaging with pregnant women, lactating mothers, healthcare providers, and administrators.

We are thrilled about this crucial research, which we believe will contribute to improving the lives of women, children, and families in Sierra Leone.
