A curriculum workshop for the Sierra Leone Postgraduate College of Health Specialists residency programs in OB/GYN and Pediatrics took place, marking a pivotal step for the future of specialist training in Sierra Leone. Although the initial curriculum was created in 2010, the program faced delays and training couldn’t begin—until now. This year, Sierra Leone will officially launch OB/GYN training!
Pediatrics training successfully began in 2019 through the dedication of Dr. Nellie Bell-Silla and her colleagues at Ola During Children’s Hospital. This progress is essential for a country that currently has fewer than 10 OB/GYNs and pediatricians serving a population of 7 million.
